Ashley taylor
My name is Ashley Taylor and I was raised in a little town called Pine Grove, Louisiana. By the grace of God, in 1996, he led me to attend college at William Carey College (now University) in Hattiesburg, MS. My four years at William Carey were four of the most formative years of my life, in large part due to my involvement in the BSU. It was there that my faith became my own and where I learned what it meant to truly surrender my life to the leadership of Christ.
In 2002, I married Nathan. Throughout our marriage, Nathan and I have enjoyed living life together, making each other laugh, and making as many memories as possible. Neither one of us is certain about it’s origination, but somewhere along the way, we coined the phrase, “Uncertainty leads to adventure” as our motto. We can definitely attest to the fact that we have experienced a great deal of uncertainty as well as adventure as we have journeyed through the past decade together.
I absolutely love doing what I do, and I have often commented to people that I think I have the best job in the world. The Lord has given me a tremendous opportunity to invest in the lives of the next generation, and my prayer is that He will find me faithful with what I have been given. It is such a privilege for me to be able to give back to the ministry that gave so much to me during my college days.
I graduated from William Carey with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration. In 2013, I completed my seminary coursework and earned a Masters of Arts in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, traveling and cheering on my MSU Bulldogs. During the summer months, my favorite place to be is laid back in a beach chair resting on the water’s edge in Gulf Shores lost in a good book.
For years, I have loved Acts 5:41. "The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus." This was after they had been arrested and flogged for teaching about Jesus. For many years now, I have been blown away by the commitment of the apostles. They were arrested and flogged, and yet they left "rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer." As I face trials and struggles in my own life, I pray that I am committed to Christ to the point of being able to rejoice in the midst of suffering for his sake.
Another Scripture that is particularly meaningful to me is Job 1:21. "I came naked from my mother's womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord." About 8 1/2 years ago, I came across a prayer that was based off of this Scripture. It reads, "Father, grant us gratitude and open hands when you graciously give to us. And, when you see fit to take away, give us faith to say, 'Bless it be your name, O Lord!'" This prayer has become one of my favorite prayers through the years as my husband and I have walked through small business ownership, a call to the ministry, the struggle with infertility, unforeseen loss of family members, an unexpected pregnancy, a devastating miscarriage, and a difficult failed private adoption. As we have faced each of these situations, this prayer has helped me keep a proper perspective.
