JOnah Bankston
I was born and raised in Summit, MS and was taught from a very young age about God and the hope of the gospel. I became a follower of Christ at 8 years old. After graduating from North Pike High School, I attended Southwest Mississippi Community College where I began to get involved heavily in BSU at the end of my freshman year. After my tenure at SMCC, I transferred to Mississippi State where I majored in Agricultural Education and also surrendered to a call to vocational ministry and finished my master’s at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2020 I married my wife, Kelsi, and we quickly found ourselves serving in BSU ministry in Columbus at The Mississippi University for Women and East Mississippi Community College for 5 years until we felt God calling us in 2026 to “God’s country”: Starkville and MSU!! We have a 3 year old boy named Beau and a brand new baby girl named Betsy!
If you know me, you know that I love fishing and hunting, playing golf, going to MSU sporting events, and spending time with my family. My dad and I also own a cattle farm and I really enjoy spending time with family there as well!
I am grateful for the way God used BSU during my freshman year of college to help point me towards living a life worthy of the calling I had received. It is a beautiful joy in life to be used by God through the ministry of BSU to see other students know Christ and make Him known!
God Bless and Go Dawgs!
